I’ve often thought that we ask the ‘why me?’ question in the face of perceived struggle disproportionately to asking ‘why me?’ in the face of remarkable blessing. Perhaps we ought to remember this bit of advice given me on my wedding day, “Don’t let what you don’t have ruin what you do have.”
We do live in a most amazing time and yet as he suggests, we are mostly unhappy. I think there’s no little bit of wisdom for keeping a Holy Lent in this bit.
